Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

If it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church, don't worry because we have you in mind. There’s already enough you have to think about when you’re visiting a church for the first time. We hope that getting some of this “stuff” out of the way not only encourages you to join us for church, but also helps you to connect with the hope and encouragement that God has for you. So Whether you're full of questions or ready to jump right in, there's a place for you at FBC Odem. We're a dynamic church that meets you right where you are. Join us this weekend for a life-changing service.

When are your services? Please see "schedule" on our home page.

How do I get to FBC Odem? From Corpus Christi/Calallen: Go north on IH 37 past Labonte Park. Take the Sinton exit on merge onto HWY 77. About 5 miles turn left at the Shell station, this is W. Turner Street. We are two blocks down on your right. From Sinton: Go west on HWY 77 towards IH 37. When in Odem, turn right after you pass the Shell station, this is W. Turner Street. We are two blocks down on your right.

What can I expect on my first visit? From the moment you step into our building you'll be made to feel at home. There are members ready to give directions or answer any questions you may have. In our fellowship hall you can enjoy complimentary coffee, juice & donuts as well as conversation about current events or sports. If you have children, you'll want to take advantage of our safe and secure nursery and toddler room designed just for them. As you enter the worship center, an usher will welcome you, hand you our information-filled bulletin and direct you to your seat. Then, sit back, relax, and enjoy the service!

What should I wear? We’re more concerned with meeting your real life needs than with what you wear. We have a mixed array of attires stemming from contemporary and casual to dress coat and tie. So just come as you are and you’ll fit right in. After all, it is "man who looks at the outward appearance but God who looks into the heart."

Are there programs for my children and/or teens? We know that as a parent you need be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. And we know that your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. We make sure that both of these goals are reached. We have a nursery and toddler room available for all our weekly services so that your worship experience can be worry free. During our Sunday morning service, children in 1st through 5th grade will be dismissed and accompanied by our volunteers where they will have their own worship experience, "Children's Church", full of music and a study that is suitable for their age. We also provide Wednesday gatherings for children in 1st through 5th grade in our Mission Kids program. The students in 6th through 12th grade meet on Wednesdays evenings and have their own Sunday School class as well.

Will I be asked to give money? We take on offering during our Sunday morning worship service. We trust in our members to help support the ministry and mission FBC Odem. The offering is for those who are part of the FBC Odem family. Instead of wanting you to give something, we want you to get something.

How can I or my family become a member? You can become a member in one of two ways.

1. You have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior (see 'Becoming a Christian') and are baptized by immersion into our fellowship.

2. You request to join our fellowship by statement (if you have already professed faith in Christ) or by letter of transfer (if you are coming from another church)

What type of music/worship style do you use? We are a blended church utilizing a mix of hymns and contemporary music sung to tracks. If you are musically or instrumentally gifted and would like be a part of our music ministry, feel free to let us know.
